Decoding the Voynich Manuscript with AI
For centuries the Voynich Manuscript has resisted every cryptographer, linguist, and codebreaker who has tried it. An illustrated codex in an unknown script, it may be a lost language, an elaborate cipher, or a very old hoax. Nobody knows.
On this site I keep a live, AI-driven decryption project โ an ongoing attempt to apply modern language models and statistical tools to the manuscript's structure.
Why it's interesting
- The script has language-like statistical properties, which is exactly what makes it so maddening.
- Modern models are unusually good at finding structure in sequences โ without needing to "know" the language first.
- Every negative result narrows the space of what the manuscript could be.
I treat it as an open notebook rather than a claim of victory. You can follow the work from the Voynich Manuscript section. New findings and dead ends alike will be posted here.
